Insurance

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Most insurance policies that offer orthodontic coverage have a lifetime maximum benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee until the maximum benefit has been reached.

Most insurance companies do not normally pay the orthodontic benefit in one lump sum, but spread out the payments over the length of treatment. Some insurance plans have a waiting period before the orthodontic benefit kicks in.

Because insurance policies vary, and to help with your questions, we offer a complimentary benefits check at your consultation appointment. Please keep in mind that insurance verification is an estimate of benefits, not a guarantee of payment.

Our office accepts most insurance plans. We currently are participating providers for MetLife, Cigna, United Concordia, and GEHA. We file your insurance the same day orthodontic treatment begins. Remember that during the course of treatment, if your insurance benefits change, or any claims are not paid, those charges are the responsibility of the patient/family.

FLEX Plans

Orthodontic expenses are eligible to be reimbursed through flex plans in the same way as any other medical expense. FLEX plans allow you to pay for orthodontic treatment with pre-tax dollars, which allow most people to experience significant savings over those individuals not enrolled in a FLEX plan.

We have the necessary documentation to file with your FLEX plan, Cafeteria Plan, or Health Spending Account plan administrator.
